Big thank you for all your replies concerning whether to stop azithromycin when taking Doxi. It gives me a warm feeling that there are so many caring, compassionate people willing to help.

I totally appreciate we are not medically qualified to give advice on medications. For a start we may not know the full medical issues and prescribed meds of the individual. However, knowing a person's experiences and knowledge has been a great help to me over the years. It also helps to know I am not alone with my concerns and anxieties.

I did take advice given here and contacted my GP and she advised not to continue with azithromycin whist taking Doxi. Together with experiences and knowledge shared in the Community Forum there is no doubt, at least in my mind, it is the right decision for me.

hi, I’m on one daily Azithromycin, have in hand Septrin Forte and Ciprofloxacin to start if necessary if Azithromycin not doing job and I have flair up. I stop Azithromycin when starting either of other two antibiotics. Good luck.

Hi, I've been taking azithromycin for around 2 years now. My current dosing is one 250mg tablet 3 times a week. I.e. Mon, Wed and Friday. I was also taking prednisolone but have now been allowed to stop that medication. I have also asked if I can stop Azithromycin but have been told to continue it for the time being as it has a prophylactic effect. I don't appear to have any negative reactions to the drug, so I'm not too bothered about taking it at the moment.
